DISCOVER

Nearly 9 million years old‚ Mayotte is the oldest island of the Comoros archipelago. Become the 101st French department in 2011‚ the island of Mayotte is a tourist destination in the making especially thanks to its lagoon. The latter‚ with its 1‚500 km² and its famous "S" pass‚ is the largest and deepest in this part of the world (and one of the largest in the world). Its double coral reef is a biological curiosity that hosts a great diversity of animals‚ including a large cetacean which is a rarity.

The natural specificities of Mayotte (the numerous islets of white sand that surround the main island of Grande-Terre or Lake Dziani)‚ as well as its cultural specificities (the Mrengué - traditional form of fight or the Msinzano - mask worn by the women and made with sandalwood powder) make the island a unique place.
