Grande Comore is the most populous and largest island of the Comoros archipelago. The main access point to the rest of the archipelago and the only point of departure to the rest of the world‚ the Grande Comore is a must for all travelers to the Comoros. The island is dominated by the Karthala volcano which rises to 2‚361m above sea level. This volcano which is still active‚ has one of the largest craters in the world with a vast caldera nearly 4 km wide.

In addition to the Karthala‚ the Grande Comoros offers many things to discover among which we can mention the Salt Lake‚ the white sand beaches of Mitsamiouli‚ Chindini or Chomoni‚ the medinas of the cities of Moroni‚ Itsandra or Iconi‚ the old the sawmill of Léon Humblot at Nioumbadjou‚ the Massif de la Grille‚ the caves of Dzoidjou‚ the cave of Captain Dubois at Bahani‚ etc.
